Author Speaks with Latrese Riley

What can I say? My most popular book ever is back! Baby Mama is back! Starlet had her C- section and delivered! Big Mama, said it’s best to keep it a secret! Not, somebody owes her double child support now! Yes, our girl is finally a real Baby Mama this time! The question is, who’s the Baby Daddy? What would she do, if she didn’t know? Her pregnant bestie Nic comes back as her ride or die, that’s what’s up! Yes, I took it there!
What inspired you to write “Baby Mama From Hell Part 3!” Starlet is BACK!: World Premiere!?
I am a baby mama myself! I wanted to write an enjoyable read that people can relate to. Being a single mom or dad has good and bad days. Really all parent’s have rewards and challenges. I like to add personal touches in my books, so my readers can know a little more about me. I had a blast writing it. There were times, I laughed or cried! I couldn’t believe that I actually wrote the line, Lol! Writing is freedom of speech and you can freely express your art in any way that you like. I can be creative in all of my stories I enjoy that part of it the most! It’s so rewarding for me to be able to share my thoughts and ideas. As a New Author, there’s always more to learn and experience! There’s always room for growth with each book that I write!
Is this a standalone novel or apart of a series?
It’s part of a group. Part One was ” Baby Mama From Hell” my first book ever, Woop Woop! Part Two was ” Mommy, Daddy, Baby and Me”. I was feeling Halloweenish, so I created a Spinoff ” Granddaughter From Hell” staring the one and only, little Casmere Riley and her Grandma ” Gigi”. Now I am introducing ” Baby Mama From Hell Part 3!, y’all!
How did you come up with the title and storyline?
The title of course is based off of society’s perception! That’s all you hear about nowadays! That title trends everywhere! But for me, I decided to write about the day to day life of single parents. We have to balance work, family and our personal lives at one time. Trying to date, is no summer breeze, Lol. Each parent’s experience is very unique and different. Single mom’s face the same challenges as single dad’s. It doesn’t matter their race or origin, it’s just a way of life.
Can you tell us a little about the main character(s)?
I’m glad you asked! My main girl and baby mama ” Starlet” is something else! Part one, she was young and wild. Part 2, I made her more mature and independent. Gave her self-confidence and esteem, but it didn’t last too long. She’s back to her ghetto self in Part 3. Then there’s Tank. A single dad of possibly four, with three different baby mama’s and one ex- wife! He’s secretly bisexual and having an affair with his dad , who’s a Pastor and openly bisexual. His wife is a beautiful Transvestite! He was a thug and definitely was ready to have any babies. He loved partying hard, drinking and smoking grass.
Do you think the cover art of your e-book/novel will persuade readers to read the story inside?
Hopefully, I wish I knew how to design my own. That’s definitely on my to do list in 2020! The “Look Inside” feature is cool, it allows reader’s to get a glimpse of what’s inside! I think the Covers are very important. If it doesn’t catch the reader’s attention than it can literally go nowhere. My covers are Ok, but it doesn’t give justice to the super creative stories inside. I try to select the best covers, but it’s not always easy.
How much of the book is realistic? Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
I would say all of it, because it’s relatable. There are true bits and pieces in it from people that I know or have met. Like I tell my reader’s stuff about me all the time to make them laugh!
What was the hardest part about writing this book?
Being new and Urban! It’s hard to fit in certain groups. As a woman writer, people generally wouldn’t expect me to use such vulgar language and vivid scenery. As a daytime Medical Professional, I am also critiqued by peers as having bad grammar, editing and blah, blah blah. You know how that is. Urban is about street life, some positive and some negative. The topic’s, conversations and storylines are there for people that want to read my types of books. I strongly encourage people to read my work before booking, so that their not surprised. With anything, you just have to have the right audience or group. My current audience is very diverse and I love it!
Is there a message in your e-book/novel that you want your readers to grasp?
Be the best that you can be. Single parent’s can have healthy and fulfilling lives too! It’s a process that takes time, but it can be done! I personally enjoy it and have finally achieved balance, Woop Woop! I made that word up, now I can’t get it out of my head or in my books!
Is there anything else you would like your/the readers to know about your book?
Please look out for free offers, that’s my favorite part. It gives everyone a chance to get a copy.

Jade’s forced into Human Trafficking and Stripping at the Hands of Sparkle and Adonis! A deadly infection takes one lover and one’s a Dying Drug Addict! What’s the fate of the two lover’s? Can their love survive the streets or is it too late?
What inspired you to write That Trick!: ill Fated Lovers Jade & Denim Part 2!?
My love for Urban Fiction<3!
Is this a standalone novel or apart of a series?
Part 2.
How did you come up with the title and storyline?
It is a biracial love story! Jade was picked for her emerald green eyes & Denim was named because he loves to wear jeans!
Can you tell us a little about the main character(s)?
Jade is Korean & Denim is black. A tragedy happened to Denim. Jade’s family took him in. The two grew up together, fell in love and then we’re separated. A life of Drug dealing, Pimping and Crime tore them apart. Their love spanned for years….
Do you think the cover art of your e-book/novel will persuade readers to read the story inside?
Yes. It looks pretty, romantic & sweet! But that’s far from the truth!
How much of the book is realistic? Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
I would say most of it! We’ve all been in love, been in bad relationships, and we’re devastated by a break-up. You know when people fall on hard times, they going to do what they have to!. Many people fall into the hands of the wrong crowd and get turned out. We all know someone that maybe in a domestic violence relationship. Those in the streets, mayhave caught deadly infections! Me personally have not experienced the street. Working in the Inner-city, in the Medical Field has taught me a lot. As a woman, I’ve been in love, was cheated on and a side chick. I admit I have competed to win a particular guy. I was desperate and had low self-esteem. Like many of my characters! I am also a single Baby Mama! Not as bad as my ” Baby Mama From Hell” book, lol.
What was the hardest part about writing this book?
I can relate to all of my characters to a certain level. I had to literally walk in their shoes through out my story! I had to breath their air, read their intimate thoughts and struggle with them. It was hard, because there were times, I had to think out the box, by keeping an open mind! I was the addict and society all in one. I had to visualize their stereotypes and bias towards one another. I had to play both sides. I wanted to have that raw mystery and urban suspense to it!
Is there a message in your e-book/novel that you want your readers to grasp?
Anyone of us can lose everything unexpectedly. Always remember the people that got you to where you are today! Be careful who you trust and keep your enemies close! To also remember, that tomorrow is a better day. Believe in yourself and change, if it can make your life better!
Is there anything else you would like your/the readers to know about your book?
It’s Urban! It’s not perfect! It’s about street life, love and tragedy. I always loved the “look inside” feature of the book! It gives Readers a sample of what to expect and they can decide to continue or not.
Additional Comments?
I have several books for everyone’s taste!. You can find mystery, suspense, romance and romance in all of them! Even a little humor and personal things about me! Ilike diversity and a variety of characters.
