A woman, her married lover, an ex-boyfriend, and the ties that bind them together….
Mona-Lisa Dandridge left her past life behind her years ago and never looked back. An unlikely love triangle ensues leaving her questioning the decisions she once thought were sound. Will Mona-Lisa make a change or stay the course with her lover? *this is not your ordinary inspirational novel*
What inspired you to write Been So Long?
I used to work at a hospital where one of my co-workers had a huge crush on a Pakistani doctor. From there, I let my imagination lead me to this story of a black woman’s relationship with a Pakistani physician.
Is this a standalone novel or apart of a series?
It is book 1 of a drama-filled, must read 8-book series that includes 2 prequels, 2 companion novels, and 3 core novels.
How did you come up with the title and storyline?
The title is also the title of an Anita Baker song, and like all of my novels, this one includes a chapter title soundtrack. This entire soundtrack is made up of Anita Baker songs. I’m not sure why I chose this particular song other than I think it just popped into my head and actually fit the storyline. After being inspired by my co-worker, the story just kind of materialized as I wrote it. I don’t do outlines. The stories just unfold as I write them.
Can you tell us a little about the main character(s)?
The main character is Mona-Lisa Dandridge, a single mother who has been in a long-term affair with a Pakistani doctor, also the father of her sons. Her life is good, or at least she believes it is, until an ex-boyfriend pops back into her life and makes her question her decisions.
Do you think the cover art of your e-book/novel will persuade readers to read the story inside?
I hope so. I think it’s a gorgeous cover, but I guess I’m biased since I created it, lol.
How much of the book is realistic? Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
I like to say it’s fictionalized reality. It’s not the reality of anyone I know personally, but could be and probably is someone’s reality.
What was the hardest part about writing this book?
Nothing, really. It flowed extremely well and virtually wrote itself.
Is there a message in your e-book/novel that you want your readers to grasp?
The main message is the power of love, healing, forgiveness, second chances, and redemption, all of which the main character experiences one way or another.
Is there anything else you would like your/the readers to know about your book?
I loved writing it, have enjoyed reading it myself, and believe they will enjoy it, too!!
